Anne Carson is a MacArthur Fellow; she has received the Lannan Prize, the T.S Eliot Prize, the Pushcart Prize, the Griffin Poetry Prize (twice-awarded), and was an Anna-Maria Kellen Fellow at the American Academy in Berlin, Germany. Characteristically spiky and eccentric translation, giving us lots to consider. Hegel? Why not? Antigone is for all time.
Carson's is now the best English version. Hers edges mine via sharper colloquial touches and concise phrasing. My hat is off.
Needed for son's college reading. Good price.
